Terms of Service

Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the InstaRank Google Sheets Add-on ("Add-on"), a software application that integrates with Google Sheets to provide AI-powered programmatic SEO dataset generation capabilities.

By installing, accessing, or using the Add-on, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our main Terms & Conditions, and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Add-on.

1. Add-on Service Description

The InstaRank Google Sheets Add-on provides the following capabilities:

• AI-powered generation of programmatic SEO datasets
• Custom header and prompt creation for content generation
• Bulk content population using OpenAI's API
• Integration with your InstaRank account for usage tracking
• Tier-based usage limits enforcement

Requirements

To use the Add-on, you must have:

• A valid InstaRank account (free or paid)
• An active Google account with Google Sheets access
• Proper authorization to access your Google Sheets data
• An OpenAI API key (for content generation)

2. Add-on Installation and Authorization

2.1 Authorization Scope

By installing the Add-on, you grant InstaRank permission to:

• Read and modify data in Google Sheets where the Add-on is used
• Display content and functionality within the Google Sheets interface
• Store configuration data related to your use of the Add-on
• Access your InstaRank account information to verify subscription tier and usage limits

2.2 OAuth Scopes

The Add-on requests the following Google OAuth scopes:

You may revoke the Add-on's access at any time by:

• Uninstalling the Add-on from Google Workspace Marketplace
• Revoking permissions through your Google Account security settings
• Contacting InstaRank support at support@instarank.com to disable Add-on access

3. Data Processing and Storage

3.1 Spreadsheet Data

• The Add-on processes data directly within your Google Sheets
• Generated content (headers, prompts, and populated data) is stored in your Google Sheets
• InstaRank does not store or retain copies of your spreadsheet content on InstaRank servers
• All spreadsheet data remains under your Google Account's control and Google's security policies

3.2 API Key Storage

• OpenAI API keys (if configured) are stored in Google Apps Script's Script Properties
• API keys are encrypted and stored within Google's infrastructure
• InstaRank does not have access to or store your OpenAI API keys on InstaRank servers

3.3 Usage Tracking

The Add-on collects and stores the following usage data:

• Number of datasets generated
• Number of pages and columns created
• Timestamp of generation events
• Your InstaRank user ID and subscription tier

This data is used for:

• Enforcing tier-based usage limits
• Billing and subscription management
• Service improvement and analytics
• Detecting abuse and ensuring fair use

4. Subscription Tiers and Usage Limits

4.1 Tier-Based Limits

Your use of the Add-on is subject to the limits of your InstaRank subscription tier:

• Limits are enforced per generation session
• Usage resets according to your subscription billing cycle
• Exceeding limits will result in an error message and blocked generation
• Upgrade your subscription tier to increase limits

5.1 Google Services

The Add-on relies on Google's services including:

• Google Sheets API
• Google Apps Script runtime
• Google Cloud Platform infrastructure

5.2 OpenAI Services

When generating content, the Add-on uses OpenAI's API:

• Content generation requests are sent to OpenAI's servers
• Your prompts and generated content may be processed by OpenAI according to their data usage policies

• You are responsible for compliance with OpenAI's acceptable use policies

6. Acceptable Use

6.1 Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Add-on to:

• Generate content that violates Google's or OpenAI's acceptable use policies
• Create datasets containing illegal, harmful, or malicious content
• Generate spam, misinformation, or deceptive content
• Bypass or circumvent usage limits through technical means
• Share or resell access to the Add-on
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the Add-on's source code
• Use the Add-on in a way that violates any applicable laws or regulations

6.2 Content Responsibility

• You are solely responsible for all content generated using the Add-on
• You must ensure generated content complies with applicable laws and regulations
• You must review and verify AI-generated content before publication
• InstaRank is not responsible for the accuracy, quality, or appropriateness of generated content

7. Service Availability and Support

7.1 Uptime and Availability

• The Add-on is provided "as is" without guaranteed uptime
• Service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or due to third-party dependencies
• InstaRank will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned maintenance

7.2 Updates and Changes

• The Add-on may be updated automatically through Google Workspace Marketplace
• Features and functionality may change with updates
• Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of changes
• Major changes will be communicated through email or in-app notifications

7.3 Support

• Support for the Add-on is available through support@instarank.com
• Support response times vary by subscription tier
• Enterprise customers receive priority support as specified in their agreement

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Add-on Ownership

• The Add-on, including all code, design, and functionality, is owned by InstaRank
• Your license to use the Add-on does not grant ownership rights
• InstaRank retains all intellectual property rights in the Add-on

9.2 User Content

• You retain ownership of all content you create or generate using the Add-on
• By using the Add-on, you do not grant InstaRank any rights to your generated content
• InstaRank may use anonymized, aggregated usage data for analytics and improvements

9.3 AI-Generated Content

• Ownership of AI-generated content may be subject to OpenAI's terms
• You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use generated content
• Review applicable AI service provider terms regarding content ownership

10. Termination

10.1 Termination by User

You may terminate your use of the Add-on at any time by:

• Uninstalling the Add-on
• Canceling your InstaRank subscription
• Requesting account deletion

10.2 Termination by InstaRank

InstaRank may suspend or terminate your access to the Add-on if:

• You violate these Terms of Service
• Your InstaRank subscription is canceled or expires
• You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Required by law or legal process

10.3 Effects of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your access to the Add-on will be disabled
• Data in your Google Sheets remains under your control
• Usage data retained by InstaRank follows our data retention policy
• You remain responsible for any outstanding payments

11. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

For users in the European Economic Area:

• InstaRank processes data as a controller for usage tracking
• Google processes spreadsheet data as a processor on your behalf

Your Rights

• Right to access personal data
• Right to rectify inaccurate data
• Right to erase data ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to restrict processing
• Right to data portability
• Right to object to processing
• Right to withdraw consent

12. CCPA Compliance (California Users)

For California residents, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Request deletion of personal information
• Opt-out of sale of personal information (not applicable - we don't sell data)
• Non-discrimination for exercising your rights

13. Modifications to Terms

InstaRank reserves the right to modify these Add-on-specific terms at any time. Changes will be effective:

• Immediately upon posting to instarank.com/legal/addon-terms
• After notification via email to registered users
• Upon your next use of the Add-on after changes are posted

Continued use constitutes acceptance of modified terms.
